Admissions elsewhere

People confused by the statutory Code on Admissions may be interested in the simplicity of the model imposed by the High Court in Delhi.

Interviews are banned. There is then a fixed point system (up to 100) on which admissions are determined. Children living within 3km of the school get 20 points; those living 10km or more away get eight. There is a sliding scale for distances in between.

The school may use 20 points for other factors which must be made public and are open to challenge. Girls get an automatic five points giving them a higher ranking than boys. It applies apparently to all schools, public and private. A thought-provoking comparison - if only life were that simple.
