Sick deserve a holiday
The European Court of Justice has ruled, in a case involving public employees, that sick pay accrues even when the employee is not working and that, contrary to current UK regulations, where an employee is unable to take sick leave the accrued sick pay is carried forward.
This applies immediately in the public sector (including academies) but the independent sector is not obliged to follow it until the House of Lords has ruled on it separately.
