SHA/NAHT joint council
SHA and NAHT held their second annual joint council meeting in November in Kenilworth. Over 24 hours, 20 members from each association came together to look at four areas and develop policy statements that both associations can support.
The issues were: leadership and governance of schools; behaviour, discipline and exclusions; collaboration and partnership; and assessment.
The discussion in committees was lively, pragmatic and constructively challenging, and in the end all four committees found many areas of agreement.
By the end of the joint council, each committee had produced a concise sheet of policy statements to be considered by each association's full council. These were presented at SHA's Council meeting on 1 and 2 December and the final recommendations will go to the joint SHA/NAHT officers meeting in January.
