TDA standards review

The second phase of the TDA's review of standards for classroom teachers began on 13 January. Following the first consultation, revised standards were drafted and are available on the TDA website for comment. The standards being reviewed are:

• qualified teacher status

• induction

• threshold

• advanced skills teachers

In addition, standards for the new Excellent Teacher scheme, to be introduced in September 2006, are being developed.

The aim of the review is to develop a coherent set of standards that will establish a clear career map for teachers. Visit www.tda.gov.uk/yoursay before 28 February to comment.
