Barbi Rai
MAPS Manager
Barbi joined the association in 1989 to assist in setting up Management and Professional Services (MAPS) as a new service for members, providing short courses on themes of current and generic educational interest.
These have grown from a half dozen a year to over 70. She also has oversight of the thriving consultancy service support, and has recently taken on responsibility for ASCL's other conferences.
As MAPS manager, her role involves the forward planning and co-ordination of the leadership development programme, adjusted to meet members' needs, and all the back-up support for the team of course directors, consultants and trainers.
Previous to this, Barbi worked for an incentive travel company organising conferences in exotic locations.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and three children and hobbies include dress design, gardening and shopping (accessories, not food!).
Keith Dennis
Inspections Consultant
Keith was given the official role of inspections consultant earlier this year - a title he never expected to have - but it flowed naturally from his leadership, over the last five years, of the highly popular re-inspection seminars.
In those five years there have been three frameworks and he is currently involved in discussion of the next step: proportionate inspection.
Keith grew up in the north-east of England but spent his career in Birmingham. He was the head of two schools: the first was multi-ethnic serving mainly inner city areas and the second was a large comprehensive on the south-western boundary. His last ten years of headship were the best, he says, largely because of Birmingham's CEO at the time, Tim Brighouse.
When not working, Keith loves walking, sailing (especially on the Norfolk Broads), the theatre and spending time with his family and friends.
