ASCL member wins Public Servant award
ASCL extends its congratulations to member David Seddon who beat off tough competition to win a top Public Servants Award for his work as Principal of Baxter College in Kidderminster.
Sir Trevor McDonald presented the award for Inspiring Success at the Pride in Public Services Awards ceremony in London in May.
Since David joined Baxter in 2003, vocational curriculum has been expanded, the teaching staff stabilised, £4 million has been raised, and GCSE passes have nearly trebled.
According to the judges: "David led from the front, inspiring students and staff to recover their self-esteem and strive for excellence. He created an atmosphere where mediocrity was not an option."
It was Vice Principal Jo Coleman who made ASCL aware of the honor. The transformation at the school, she said, has been "truly amazing" under his leadership. "He fully deserves the accolades he has received."
