Guidance paper recall
The Licensing Act 2003 started to come into force on 7 February and schools that sell alcohol will need to be aware of the new regulations.
Applications for conversions and variations can now be submitted with the new licences and club registration certificates taking effect on a second date, probably 8 November.
Converting to the new licence can potentially be a very long and complex process. If the conversion applications are not submitted before the 6 August deadline, clubs will face a much more expensive application process subject to much greater scrutiny.
As a result the application may be refused, or granted with restrictions that clubs do not currently have. Leaving the conversion application to the last minute may result in clubs not having a valid licence after the second appointed date in November.
Please check with your local authority if you are unsure of how the new act applies to you.
