Contribution to teacher training
ASCL member Mike Francis, deputy head of Farmor's School in Gloucestershire, has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to teacher training. In November he received an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Gloucestershire for his work.
The university said: "For graduating students, Mike will be an outstanding role model of the highest standards of teacher professionalism." His colleague Hugh Dudley, who alerted ASCL to the honour, said: "We are all very proud of Mike's achievement and feel it is an award for the whole university/school partnership."
Mike led the school's involvement as a founding member of the Gloucestershire Initial Teacher Education Partnership and since 2001 he has also been course leader for the partnership's School-Centred Initial Teacher Training Programme.
