Names and faces
Ann Williamson, Field Officer South east
Ann was the head of two independent girls schools, but before that taught in almost every type of maintained school. She was a founder member of SHA and was delighted to be elected to Council in 1983, where she remained until she retired to become a field officer in 1998. During her time on Council she was chair of Public and Parliamentary and International Committee. She continues her association with International, taking the minutes of their meetings.
Besides her field officer casework, Ann is a school governor, a magistrate and chairman in the criminal, youth and family courts, and the administrator of an educational trust. She sings, acts and dances in two local amateur dramatic societies, looks after 18 GAP students, is a vice president of Blackheath Rugby Club, sings in her church choir and knits furiously for her granddaughter. Her hobbies are theatre, music, reading, crosswords and sleeping.
Jenny Jones, Business Development Manager
Jenny joined the association in 1991. She went on to become conference services manager with responsibility for all the national conferences and exhibitions, including annual conference.
Earlier this year she took on the new role of business development manager, working to increase the benefits to members. She also continues to manage the annual conference.
In her spare time, Jenny keeps fit by walking, cycling and dancing and is a keen skier. She is learning to play the piano but, with little time to practice, it is slow going.
In 1999 she achieved a degree in business studies. However her greatest achievement is her children: Simon, who is a teaching assistant and Nicola who lives in Australia. Jenny will, therefore, be spending Christmas down under in the sun!
