Cymru secretary

Brian Rowlands will be staying on as SHA Cymru secretary, we are pleased to announce. Brian was planning to retire this summer, but following a selection process for his successor, we were unable to find the person to adequately fill his shoes.

Brian has agreed to stay on in the job until a successor can be found.

Since SHA Cymru started in 1999, it has increased membership to over 600 (200 of Wales' 225 heads are members) built a strong executive and branch secretary network and made the association a force to be reckoned with in political circles.

Brian has done a tremendous amount of work for SHA Cymru and we know he is a tough act to follow.

However potential applicants shouldn't be daunted. The right person will play a key role in developing policy and disseminating it, liaising with the Assembly government and supporting SHA Cymru members.

If you are recently retired from school leadership in Wales and are interested in representing SHA Cymru at national level, please contact Martin Ward at SHA headquarters on 0116 299 1122.
