New ASCL appointments

At the end of June, ASCL says farewell to Pensions Specialist David Blake, thanking him the excellent service he has provided to members since 2006. Taking over the pensions role is David Binnie, who has worked for ASCL as regional officer for the East Midlands since March 2007. Prior to that his professional career spanned six schools in Walsall, Solihull and Staffordshire, with half his career spent in two headships. School sport and music were his particular passions.

David's role as East Midlands regional officer is being filled by Terry Allcott, who many members will know as ASCL's director of Management and Professional Services (MAPS).

Terry joined ASCL in 1999 as assistant general secretary, providing field officer support to members as one of his duties. Upon taking on the MAPS director role in 2001 he continued to support members as a regular officer on the hotline. Prior to ASCL, he spent four years working for the Funding Agency for Schools in a variety of roles and did consultancy work on equal opportunities.

John Bennett, ASCL's professionals services specialist in the MAPS department, will be acting MAPS director until a replacement is found.
