MP backing for online recruitment
MP Eric Joyce is supporting the call for a substantial shake up in the recruitment methods used by schools.
Mr Joyce has drawn attention to the considerable public funds which are spent unnecessarily advertising teacher vacancies, citing a large secondary school which in one year spent £30,000 on advertising.
Based on the assertion that the schools sector could be spending upwards of £50 million a year on traditional recruitment practices, Joyce has estimated that a web-only alternative would cost less than a tenth of that sum.
ASCL has backed the move to help schools reduce their advertising expenditure by partnering last year with the online recruitment service Eteach.
For ASCL members only, Eteach is offering an initiative that lets them advertise as many vacancies as they need throughout the year for a one-off annual fee of £600. To find out more about special rates for ASCL members, contact Eteach on 0845 226 1906 and quote reference LEADER1006.
Eteach currently receives over 600,000 visits per month - the equivalent of around 75 per cent of the entire teaching community in the UK.
